Goodbye to Summer

In summertime the children dream,
sleep late,
eat, and grow.
skin, so warm from the summer sun.
hair, kissed with golden strands.

I want to keep them forever
fatten them
like little pigs.
Watch movies,
and eat popcorn every night.

College is hard,
and work is harder.
I hope they will be happy.
All their dreams
and schemes go right.

It's so hard to say
goodbye to childhood
and summer days
down at the shore.
the sun and all the dreaming

isn't that so true. and so poetically put, as you always seem to have the knack for doing. it made me feel warm.

ah, farewell dear summer. until next year.
and hello, dear rain, good to have you back.

I've been meaning to make a comeback of my own...

Beautifully said Rainy, so beautifully said, and true, but I think I must be living my second childhood or something because I've had some of those lazy wonderful last of summer days at the lake recently and I'm dreaming again, and feeling well loved and good Lord, see? It's as if I'm sixteen.

love a love a love a you,
Lori
